Party on, Pacas | End of Day 1, Preview of Day 2

Alpacas, alpacas everywhere! We hope everyone had a wonderful day, and is excited for tomorrow as they are exhausted from today. After welcoming 2,350 students, a dozen dignitaries, and some very special alpacas (with more on the way), we trotted all over Sentosa and danced and laughed our way through the Wavehouse. As we make our way home, delighted and drained, it's time we look to the day ahead: Debates, Writing and Challenges await!

Day 2 - Writing, Challenge, Debate, Pwaafari

Schedule  - Please find the UPDATED SCHEDULE (link) for the day.

Notes

If you are not 100% sure where your team is debating, please email us directly with the subject line "Where Am I Debating?" - but check the list first

EVERYONE (coaches and students) should double-check this link and find their school name on the list of debate locations for the morning
    • Remember to check the color of your lanyard! If your lanyard is....you are going to....
      • RED - NATIONAL JUNIOR COLLEGE
      • BLUE - HWA CHONG INSTITUTION
      • GREEN - SINGAPORE CHINESE GIRLS' SCHOOL
      • BLACK or YELLOW - NANYANG GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL
Buses
    • Available at all hotels to take you to the correct school. They should have a label in the window telling you where they are headed
    • If you get on a bus and everyone else has a different colored lanyard, you are probably on the wrong bus
    • All buses depart hotels at 8:30 am
Dress Code:
    • Students should come dressed to impress
    • School uniforms or formal clothing is recommended
    • Bring a change of clothes - some debating rooms will be hot, and students are welcome (encouraged, even!), to change out of their formals for the Challenge and Writing
Adjudicators
    • All adults should report to the briefing room by no later than 9:15 am. There was some confusion about adjudicators today, and this will be solved upon arrival in the briefing room.
    • Debate Guidelines, Debate Script, Sample Scoresheet (links)
Meals
    • Lunch and dinner will be provided at the school for all registered adults and students..
Night Pwaafari
    • If you have confirmed your spot on the Night Pwaafari with the Chan Brothers, a bus will pick you up from your debating school at 6:30 pm
    • If you are not going on the Safari, your buses will leave for the hotels at 6:30 pm

  1. Hi! Thanks for all the information. Aren't adjudicating adults allowed to accompany the students for debates?

  2. Please come prepared to adjudicate both sessions - if ALL registered adults show up, then we will have more than enough, but it will be sorted in the morning. Each Adjudicator will be assigned a room for the day - if you would like to watch your students debate, be sure to bring an extra adult to replace you in the morning/afternoon.

    See you soon!

  3. The blog post says all the buses depart at 8:30 however the schedule mentions 8:00 a.m. so I am confused as to what timing we should follow.

  4. I would say to be ready at 8, just in case.

  5. This really is a confusing and disorganized event isn't it? I wish they were a bit better at communicating their information, especially when the WIFI at the hotels aren't the best.

  6. Anyone else think that Burch uses WSC to promote his sub-par acting dream?
